How is everyone feeling after 19.1? Are you excited for 19.2? I hope you allowed yourself to rest and recover after last week, especially since our thighs were on fire after 15 minutes of nonstop rowing and wallballs! Most importantly, have fun tomorrow without any expectations other than to surprise yourself and cheer on our amazing teammates! Truthfully, there is nothing like the CrossFit open to bring the best out of the Arsenal Crew, physically, mentally, and emotionally! Whether this is your first, your second like me, or your fifth- each week is a unique experience to push your limits alongside thousands of other people around the world. How cool is that? After all, we are each athletes in our own way.
Now, to prepare you for the next WOD and enhance your recovery, read on for a delicious and quick post-workout, breakfast, or dessert shake!
I whipped up this nutrient dense perfection last weekend after returning from travel, conferences, and recovering from 19.1! It was perfect to reset my clean eating habits and give me recovery fuel. This is packed with nutrients. For instance, the cacao is high in antioxidants and minerals. In addition, the protein gives you amino acids, the avocado is full of healthy fats, and the spinach is a power food of its own!
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- 1/2-3/4 cup non-dairy milk of your choice
- 3 TBSP cacao nibs
- 1 cup tightly packed baby spinach
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 scoop protein powder of your choice (vanilla or unflavored)
- 1/2 hass avocado
- Stevia or honey to sweeten to taste
- First, put all ingredients in a blender, smoothie maker or Nutribullet!
- Next, blend until a shake-like consistency. Enjoy!
